Hollow blocks.

Hey guys, let's get a bit nerdy. So I had the opportunity to work with hollow blocks on the slab of the first floor of a certain construction site and I was just amused by it. An engineer I worked under on my attachment period mentioned they are mostly used when the thickness of the slab is more than 150mm and this would mean that a lot of concrete would have to be used to achieve that height and hence a higher cost of construction.
The rest of this blog is a copy and paste like so many of my assignments back at uni😂🙈.
Enjoy and lemme know what you think of such content.

Hollow Concrete blocks have a void area larger than twenty-five percent, they come in different shapes and sizes. Concrete blocks are example masonry units used in the construction world over. Blocks Factory has various types of precast panels used to get different shapes and sizes of different types of hollow blocks used in construction works such as walls of buildings, retaining walls and office buildings.

Hollow building blocks are famous in the construction industry due to the numerous benefits that it presents. It is also, readily available and easy to deploy when needed.

8 Advantages of Using Hollow Blocks

Hollow building blocks for walls are embedded with many gains to construction that are too important to be ignored. Perhaps before you embark on your next construction work, you may need to consider these benefits before you make that important choice.

1. Rapid Execution of Work

Made from molds that produce hallow blocks of equal shapes, sizes, and weight, it is easy to deploy hollow blocks in construction works, all that is needed is to fit the right block to the right place. Same shape and sizes help to easily assembly them to form any particular shape that is required in a construction job.

2. Highly durable

Hollow building blocks compacted by high pressure and vibration make the blocks very strong, resilient hardened to severe load and weight.

3. Better Insulation Properties

The air in the hollow of the block does not allow heat or cold in or out of the building. No wonder hollow blocks are insulated against heat, dampness, and sound. Hollow blocks keep the house cool in summer and warm in winter.

4. Environmentally friendly

It does not pollute or have any known environment nuisance it constitutes to the system.

5. Cost-Efficient

It helps in minimizing construction materials used at a construction site, though minimizes the cost of construction.

6. Low Maintenance

To maintain hollow blocks buildings is not expensive, compared to other building materials that are available.

7. Conserves Space

Construction of thin walls with hollow blocks is very common. So, it helps to reduced space used in construction and increases the floor area.

8. Bonding of mortar and plaster

Since the surfaces of hollow blocks are rough, this provides for good bonding between mortar and plaster.

Hollow blocks come first to mind when construction projects that are expected to be environmentally friendly, durable and cost-effective are considered. You may consider it for your next construction task.
